a lot coming out of 2012 the republican party has profound -- you can blame mitt romney for the, his loss in his campaign and to be honest i think that was actually a very, very winnable race had it been run somewhat differently, that the obama campaign was very, very smart campaign and made a lot of very smart decisions and the romney campaign not so much. but notwithstanding that, when you sort of look at other races and look broader, you can see there is just some huge problems facing the republican party. first minority voters when african-americans make up 13% of the electorate and your presidential candidate loses 87 points, 93-6, that is pretty bad. when hispanics make up 10% of the vote and romney lost by 44 points, 71-27. but the group that i kind of like to point to is sort of making a statement is a smaller group, asian voters which make up 3% of the electorate. now, let's do some, don't worry i'm not boeing to say anything bad. let's do some profiling here. what are the stereotypes of asians, asian-americans? hard-working, entrepreneurial, capitalistic. they have a l

for to a large extent f you think about the end of the election, mitt romney won in the exit polls in almost every metric except for the one that mattered most which is without cares about people like me. so people voted for president obama to a large extent because they liked him and trusted him to identify with their concerns, with the real lives of real people for most american voters. i think even a year later with all the problems president obama had, people still believe he has their best interests at heart. what they lost is a sense that he is competent at any time to implement the policies that he's put forward. and i think that is the biggest problem with what happened with him with the health-care plan is people lost faith in his ability to actually get the job done. and to some extent they lost faith in his honesty and his candor with them. those are huge problems for him going forward in the course of the next three years. they still feel he estimate path identifies with him but not as willing to put their faith in him as in the past four years. >> you followed the same

mccain secured the nomination on march 4 in 2008 and romney became the de facto nominee in 2012 on april 11. the 2008 race was competitive for 61 days compared to 99 days in 2012. the 2012 nomination was competitive for 38 days more than the 2008 nomination. it did lengthen the process. when we look closer at the goals of the number of states and voters allowed to participate in the process, we see a different story. 2008 in those 61 days the race was competitive, 37 states had the opportunity to hold their contests compared to the 30 states that held their that thein the 99 days race was competitive in 2012. also see fewer voters participated in the republican 16.15%ce with about dissipating compared to a little over 17.5% participating in 2008. the participation rates in both ears were substantially lower than those in the 2008 contest. delegatee temporary selection committee and its reforms are a significant departure, because it is the republican party becoming involved in the process, something it had not done frequently over the past 40 years of reforms. it has been fairly un
